Property crime continues in Ponoka area

Police continue to deal with property crimes in the Ponoka area.

On the hunt: Members of the Ponoka RCMP and Alberta Sheriffs were busy checking vehicles and drivers at a roadblock on the town’s west entrance of Highway 53 around 5 p.m.

$4,000 in property stolen

On Feb. 10 the Ponoka RCMP responded to a complaint of a break and enter to a residence located on Range Road 273.

Unknown suspects broke into the residence and stole numerous items valued at approximately $4000. File currently under investigation.

Break and enter to farm shop

On Feb. 16 the Ponoka RCMP responded to a break and enter to a farm shop on Range Road 254.

Unknown suspects entered the shop and once inside attempted to steal a truck. The suspects then jumped a fence to the neighbour’s yard and were successful in stealing a truck from the property.

The truck is a 1995 Ford F150 grey in colour. Updated on Feb. 17 that the vehicle was recovered in owner’s yard. File is under investigation.

Pickup stolen

On Feb. 16 the Ponoka RCMP responded to a theft of a truck from a property on Range Road 255.

Unknown suspects broke into a garage and stole a grey 2006 Chevrolet Silverado. Truck had a headache rack and a winch. File is currently under investigation.

Suspects attempt theft of fuel

On Feb. 16 the Ponoka RCMP responded to a break and enter into a fenced yard at a rural business in the Ponoka County.

Unknown suspect breached the gate and drove over to the fuel tanks. An attempt to steal fuel was observed on the video footage. Suspect is a male wearing a mask. File is currently under investigation (photo not available).

Vehicle collides with cattle

On Feb. 12 the Ponoka RCMP responded to a single vehicle accident on Range Road 243.

The driver was heading North on Range Road 243 when he hit a herd of cattle that were loose on the roadway. Two of the bovines went flying over the roof of the vehicle, however, the occupants of the vehicle did not sustain any injuries.
