A senior citizen has been charged by Hobbema RCMP after a large cache of weapons and ammunition was seized during a raid July 28 at two Ermineskin residences.
Wayne Roan, 65, of the Ermineskin First Nation, faces 26 charges stemming from the search that produced seven handguns, 11 rifles, six shotguns — all unsafely stored, said RCMP Const. Perry Cardinal.
Police also confiscated two pellet guns, a defensive baton, a large amount of assorted ammunition, a large collection of knives, a police scanner, small amount of marijuana and a small amount of cash.
A search of one residence produced a police scanner and cellphone. A female suspect was arrested for breaching a conditional sentence order.
Many of the firearms were unregistered and at least one was reported stolen.
