Seasons Ponoka Retirement Community held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Dec. 3, to commemorate the addition of 20 Supportive Living Level 4 (SL4) suites, awarded by Alberta Health Services. Ponoka Mayor Kevin Ferguson attended the event to show his support.

“This is excellent news, as it brings a much-needed level of enhanced continuing care that will help meet the needs of our residents, now and in the future,” said Nicole Almost, senior regional director of resident and guest services, in a news release.

“Should their care needs change, they will have the option to receive the additional services they need right here in their home at Seasons,” said Almost.

SL4 provides a higher level of personal care supports and healthcare services for those with more complex medical needs.

In addition to Health Care Aides, Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) provide care onsite 24-7 for residents.

There is a demand for SL4 care options in both communities.

“It means a lot to be able to stay at my Seasons community,” said Seasons Ponoka resident Violet Lussier. “Leaving would mean I would have to move to another town where I don’t have any family close to me.”
