Shots fired in failed theft of fuel attempt

No one was injured after a suspect fires a shot to elude capture after failing to steal fuel at rural property.

Blackfalds RCMP are looking for three suspects after a rural resident interrupted their attempt to steal fuel, only to scared after one of the suspects fired a gun.

Around 9:30 p.m. on May 4 at a property near Pine Lake, in the area of Range Road 253 and Township Road 373, when the landowner found three caucasian men trying to obtain fuel from some tanks.

Once the suspects were noticed, the three attempt to make a getaway and in doing so, one of the suspects fired a shot from a small calibre rifle into some trees. That caused enough of a distraction of the landowner for the three suspects to speed off.

The three fled in a an older four-door white Dodge truck, which has yet to be found despite RCMP reaching the area a short time later and conducting extensive patrols.
