Silver Valley 4-H Riders club report

On Feb. 7, our club had our communications event via google meet. It was an hour-long event from 1pm to 2 p.m. and all of the members did great with each member having the choice to do either an interview, presentation or a speech. For all of our monthly meetings we have been doing them via google meet or Zoom, because of the COVID-19 restrictions.

One of our equine leaders gave every member a section of our ‘Horse Reference Manuals’ to read over and bring 10 points to discuss that we found informational and we also had to demonstrate an additional two items on our projects that we videoed and shared with the club via Google Meets.

For our community service, we decided to go to the Seasons Retirement Community to paint on the windows for Valentine’s day on Feb. 1 and again on March 19 for Easter. The staff at the retirement home said that the residents were incredibly happy to have people visiting, even if it was looking at us through the windows.

On March 21 we got together to work on our winter project which we used old pallets to build display shelves and a halter box to use at home. We used a wood torch to burn the wood and stain to finish them off.
