Ponoka’s skateboard park has been closed this week after users left behind a mess.
Stan Baliant, the Town of Ponoka’s director of property services, said padlocks went on the gates to the park when a broken table, old clothing, cups, bags and other refuse was found strewn about the area.
“We provide a garbage container and still there was garbage all over,” he said Aug. 22.
The skatepark was to remain closed for three days and re-open when responsible boarders came forward to clean up the garbage.
Baliant said there are regular complaints from residential and commercial neighbours about the condition of the skatepark.
