There was plenty to celebrate at Skinny’s Shoe Repair on July 28.

Owner Skinny La Bine hosted a community appreciation barbecue to celebrate 30 years in business, plus July 29 marks his 65th birthday.

La Bine also announced that effective Aug. 1, he will be going to a four-day work week from Monday through Thursday.

La Bine launched his shoe repair business back in 1993 in Invermere, B.C.

He relocated to Ponoka in 1999. He is grateful for the support he has received over the years and wanted to say a special thanks also to the Central Alberta Vintage Motorcycle Group for providing buns and bratwurst for the barbecue.

All the proceeds — $540 — from the barbecue are going to support the local Boys and Girls Club.
