2020-2021 financial profile

The board heard a presentation on the 2020-2021 financial reporting profile comparing STAR Catholic’s fiscal changes with provincial averages as well as with a cohort group of other similar-sized school divisions.

2022-2023 budget assumptions

The board heard a presentation on key assumptions and allocations for the 2022-2023 school year. This included enrollment projections for funding estimates and allocations to schools.

Catholic education week the board reviewed a communications plan for the celebration of the upcoming Catholic education week and world Catholic education day.

Draft division calendars

The board approved the draft 2022-2023 school year calendars as presented.

Beaumont high school update

The board heard the findings of an architectural study on the feasibility of building a high school on an 8.33-acre parcel of land in Beaumont, which confirmed it would be possible to build a small high school of 350 students at the location.

The board also heard that the City of Beaumont has land for a possible joint-use high school between STAR Catholic School Division and Black Gold School Division.

Both land options could be serviced within the amount of time required by Alberta Education.

2022 division survey results

The board heard a presentation on this year’s survey results, including areas of strength and opportunities for growth that will be incorporated into the division and schools’ education plans.

Allocation of unrestricted reserves

The board approved the allocation of $1,222,643 from division surplus reserves to support expenditures in schools and the central office.
