RCMP have arrested a suspect who was allegedly in possession of a pickup stolen out of Ponoka.

Blackfalds RCMP say on the morning of April 4, officers spotted a stolen Ford F350 parked on Range Road 273. As they approached the vehicle, police say the driver fled on foot into a field. They conducted a brief search in the field and located the driver, who was arrested.

It was a busy morning for Blackfalds RCMP who also had to deal with stolen vehicle involved in a collision a short time later.

Police say a white Nissan Pathfinder was westbound on Mackenzie Road near Red Deer, when it continued through the Highway 2A intersection and collided with a northbound white Dodge minivan.

Upon arrival, officers saw the driver a 27-year-old woman attempting to force her way into another vehicle. She was arrested at the scene and it was determined the Pathfinder was reported stolen from Blackfalds earlier that morning.

The individuals involved in the collision were transported to the Red Deer Regional Hospital with minor injuries. The incidents do not appear related and it was unclear if any charges were laid at the time of the release.
