RCMP have collected physical evidence and are left with a “hunch” after two local store break-ins early in the morning of Dec. 11.

The same person is suspected in both break-ins at the Golden Wheel Restaurant and Super Foods in Ponoka.

“We have a few suspects in mind,” said Sgt. Glenn Demaere. “We expect the individual was looking for money for drugs.”

About $200 cash was stolen. Physical evidence collected at the scenes is being analyzed.

Auto theft

RCMP are asking everyone to be on the lookout for a vehicle that was stolen in town Dec. 7.

The grey 1991 Chrysler Dynasty with the license plate Z8H 656 was taken in town and has not yet been recovered.

The same evening, another stolen vehicle was recovered and a woman is facing charges. Details could not be released as charges have yet to be laid.

Anyone with information on the stolen vehicle is asked to call the RCMP at (403) 783 – 4472.
