National Nursing Week is May 11 to May 17.

Nurses have always faced many challenges within their workplace.

COVID-19 has brought to the forefront the challenges nurses encounter, not only on a regular basis, but also in times of crisis. Complexity of patient needs, increased patient-to-staff ratios, and coping with moral and ethical dilemmas are just a few of the concerns that need to be addressed.

To show our support for one another, whether in a pandemic or not, we need to voice that we are not alone. In the weeks to come we can band together by wearing shirts to symbolize “we are not alone” and “we want change.”

If the community would also like to show their support for nurses, apparel will be available to purchase on the Facebook page NURS-SINS with a percentage of the proceeds being donated to the Ponoka Food Bank.

Note: The Facebook page is expected to be up and running sometime on May 13.

Happy Nursing Week.
