Temporary lane closures are planned, starting Sept. 5, as the Town of Ponoka completes micro-surfacing work o several roadways.
The work is part of the town’s annual pavement and concrete improvement program. Micro-surfacing will be done on the following roadways this week (weather dependent):
• 50 Street (between 53 Avenue and 56 Avenue);
• 51 Street (between Highway 2A and 53 Avenue); and
• 57 Avenue (between 50 Street and 54 Street).
Micro-surfacing is an application of a special coating to the top layer of asphalt, which preserves the underlying pavement by preventing oxidization and moisture penetration.
according to the town, micro-surfacing is a cost-effective treatment that prolongs the life of the road.
The town asks motorists to drive with caution in construction zones and observe road signs.
