Three dead in vehicle accident

Jim Whitford, 84, Gerald Soosay, 56 and Wayne Soosay, 49 died at the scene of the crash.

A Toyota carrying four people including the Soosays collided with a Jeep that was carrying Whitford and one other person.

“It appears that the Toyota was traveling southbound on the country road and collided with a Jeep that was traveling eastbound on Hwy 611 after the Toyota ran a stop sign,” said Cpl. Darrel Bruno crime prevention planning coordinator and media liaison for the Wetaskiwin/ Hobbema detachment.

One person was brought by STARS Air Ambulance to a hospital in Edmonton and the other two were transported by ambulance.

Hobbema RCMP continues to investigate with the assistance of the Wetaskiwin Traffic Services and Traffic Analysis support staff.
