Three dead in vehicle accident

Three men are dead after a vehicle collision on April 28. The collision occurred at an intersection on Hwy 611, five kilometers east of Hobbema.

Three men are dead after a vehicle collision on April 28. The collision occurred at an intersection on Hwy 611, five kilometers east of Hobbema.

Jim Whitford, 84, Gerald Soosay, 56 and Wayne Soosay, 49 died at the scene of the crash.

A Toyota carrying four people including the Soosays collided with a Jeep that was carrying Whitford and one other person.

“It appears that the Toyota was traveling southbound on the country road and collided with a Jeep that was traveling eastbound on Hwy 611 after the Toyota ran a stop sign,” said Cpl. Darrel Bruno crime prevention planning coordinator and media liaison for the Wetaskiwin/ Hobbema detachment.

One person was brought by STARS Air Ambulance to a hospital in Edmonton and the other two were transported by ambulance.

Hobbema RCMP continues to investigate with the assistance of the Wetaskiwin Traffic Services and Traffic Analysis support staff.
