Town of Ponoka hosting free drive-in movie

Will show Onward Sept. 25

The Town of Ponoka will host a free drive-in movie event on Friday, Sept. 25 at the Ponoka Arena Complex. Families are invited to come park and enjoy Disney’s movie Onward from the comfort of their vehicles.

“The event is a COVID alternative to our annual Ponoka Day in the Park summer festival. We wanted to host a family-fun event that our citizens could enjoy while still following COVID-related restrictions during the pandemic,” said Andrew Jones, Town of Ponoka recreation coordinator.

The parking lot will be open to vehicles at 7:30 p.m. The movie starts at 8:30 p.m. Parking spots will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The parking lot can accommodate 200 vehicles. Town staff and members of the Town of Ponoka Recreation, Parks and Culture Committee will be on-site to help direct vehicles into parking spots.

In keeping with provincial public health guidelines and to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, washrooms will not be available at the arena complex. Those attending the event are asked to use washroom facilities at home before they arrive and remain in their vehicles during the movie.
