Town of Ponoka invites public feedback new expanded skate park design

The Town of Ponoka is launching a second round of public consultation on an expanded skate park for the community.

Ponoka citizens are being invited to view an updated design of the skate park and provide their feedback at the town’s booth at the Ponoka Trade Show Friday, April 14 and Saturday, April 15 at the Ponoka Arena Complex (4410 54 Street).

Unable to attend the Ponoka Trade Show? Citizens can also offer their input on the expanded skate park designs on the town’s online engagement platform at www.LetsTalkPonoka.ca.

Initial public input was gathered in 2022 on a conceptual design for the expanded skate park.

That conceptual design has since been updated to incorporate the initial public input.

The current conceptual plans could see the existing Hamilton Skate Park extended south to include the space currently occupied by the former Town of Ponoka recycling yard.

The sidewalk in front of the Hamilton Skate Park would also be extended south to connect with the pedestrian bridge that crosses over the Battle River and connects with the river valley trail system.

Construction of the expanded skate park will depend on future consideration and approval of the park design, location and budget by town council.
