UPDATE

A temporary boil water advisory has now been lifted for homes on the south side of 53 Avenue and the north side of 52 Avenue (between 60 Street and 62 Street).

Residents of these homes no longer need to boil their water before consuming it. A temporary boil water advisory was implemented last week following a watermain break in the area. Crews have repaired, disinfected and flushed the watermain line.

Water samples that were sent for testing have received satisfactory results, and the water is now safe to consume.

Affected residents are being notified door-to-door that the boil water advisory has been lifted. If you have questions, please phone 403-783-4431.

ORIGINAL STORY

A temporary boil water advisory is in effect until further notice (as of Dec. 14) for homes on the south side of 53 Avenue and the north side of 52 Avenue (between 60 Street and 62 Street) in Ponoka as crews work to repair a watermain break in the area.

Water pressure to the affected homes has been temporarily reduced to allow crews to repair the watermain break.

Once the line is repaired, water pressure will be turned back up to a normal pressure, however the temporary boil water advisory will remain in effect.

Affected residents are being notified of the boil water advisory door-to-door and will be notified again once the advisory is lifted.

Until then, water should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute before consuming, washing food, making ice cubes, or brushing teeth.

The public is asked to please avoid the area if possible while crews work to repair the line. If you have questions, please phone 403-783-4431.
