The Town of Ponoka invites local service clubs and the public to volunteer their time and effort to help install new playground equipment in the Co-op subdivision this summer.

“The playground equipment has been ordered and we are hoping to have it installed by late July or early August so families can enjoy playing on the equipment this summer,” says Wes Amendt, Director of Community Services.

The old playground equipment in the Co-op subdivision was removed last fall and the site has been prepared for installation of the new playground. A second new playground planned for the Westview neighbourhood in Ponoka is temporarily on hold until the Co-op playground is installed.

Both playground projects were originally scheduled for completion last fall. “Due to contractor delays, we decided to move ahead with a volunteer build to ensure the Co-op playground gets installed as soon as possible. Once that is completed we will turn our attention to the Westview playground and announce updated plans,” says Amendt.

If interested in volunteering, please contact Amendt at 403-783-0118. The Co-op subdivision playground is located in the north end of Ponoka between 64 Avenue and 65 Avenue. The Westview playground is located on 51 Avenue Close in Riverside.
