One Town of Ponoka resident has some concerns over the cost of the new learning centre.
Linda Bergman spoke during the open forum of town council April 23 and said she doesn’t agree with the lease.
“Yes it will be amazing to see that eyesore gone and yes it will have some benefit to have a learning centre here, but at what cost to the town,” said Bergman.
People she has spoken with are not in favour of the lease and the long-term costs. “Who leases their vehicles for years on end unless it is a business write-off.”
She added some concern over the lease with Campus Alberta Central and wondered whether it is a long-term deal and whether something has been signed.
Mayor Rick Bonnett said there are several questions that Bergman had that he expects will be answered in the near future.
The regulatory process for the site is still to come with public hearings expected for bylaw, subdivision and development permits.
