Ponoka RCMP are investigating a stolen truck that is believed to have been set on fire near Ponoka.

RCMP and members of the Ponoka County East District Fire Department were called to a Ford F250 on fire east of Ponoka on Range Road 260 Oct. 21 at about 9 p.m. Crews were able to quell the fire before it could engulf the truck.

The vehicle was reported stolen out of Red Deer. The file is under investigation.

19-year-old threatens customer and police

RCMP have charged a 19-year-old man with assaulting a police officer after an altercation in a store.

Police say the man was in the Red Apple Store on Oct. 16 and was threatening a customer.

“Police attended and the male stated that if police arrested him that he would assault the police member,” state RCMP. “The police member reached for the male who made a punching motion and then took off running.”

An altercation ensued and the man was eventually arrested, say police. He was also charged with resisting arrest and causing a disturbance.
