A major feed manufacturing company in Ponoka will continue after being recently purchased.
On April 7 Viterra Inc. livestock feed and services division, Unifeed, bought V-S Feed and Agri-Supplies Ltd in Ponoka.
The business had been for sale since last fall and was a family-run business.
V-S Feed and Agri-Supplies manufactures, sells and distributes supplements and pre-mixes from the Ponoka mill and retail outlet. The company produces both bag and bulk custom rations and produced 8,000 tonnes per year.
Viterra plays a prominent role in the western Canadian livestock services industry through its Livestock Feed and Services division.
Viterra presently markets and manufactures more than 1.5 million tonnes of feed and ingredients to livestock, dairy and poultry customers through Unifeed in Canada and Hi-Pro Feeds in the United States.
