Up-and-coming Central Alberta singers could win the chance to perform the anthem at this fall’s Canadian Finals Rodeo at Red Deer’s Westerner Park.

Local singers are urged to get “ those vocal cords primed,” for the chance to belt out the Canadian national anthem at “all six adrenaline-pumping performances,” of the 49th annual CFR from Nov. 1-5 at the Centrium.

The Canadian Professional Rodeo Association has already started its quest for the undiscovered voice of CFR. For contest details, please visit: www.cfrreddeer.ca/event/anthem-are-you-the-voiceof-cfr/.

This “showdown of vocal prowess” — in other words, the Anthem performance competition — will be held on Thursday, Oct. 26, at Bo’s Bar & Stage, an official partner of CFR49.

“From a pool of exceptional entrants, a group of ten promising performers will have the golden chance to showcase two songs of their choosing before a distinguished panel of celebrity judges and an enthusiastic crowd of CFR fans,” states a release from the CPRA.

“The ultimate victor will be determined by a balanced vote between the celebrity judge panel and the lively on-the-spot crowd voting, with the winner emerging from a final trio of outstanding performers.”

Entries for the singing competition will close at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17.

Members of the public can attend the performance on Oct. 26, and there are limited VIP seating packages available for organization for groups. “Delight in a Western-themed culinary experience, complemented by delectable tastings courtesy of CFR sponsors, Troubled Monk,” states the CPRA.

For reservations, please contact Bo’s Bar and Stage at 403-309-2200. For more information and updates about the Canadian Finals Rodeo, please visit www.cfrreddeer.ca.

The CPRA is the official sanctioning body for Professional Rodeo in Canada. It approves 55 events annually with a total payout exceeding $5.7 million, oversees the Pro Tour Finals, holds the Canadian Finals Rodeo at Westerner Park in Red Deer, and also endorses the Maple Leaf Circuit Finals in November, as part of Canadian Western Agribition.
