Weapons seized

Weapons and drugs were recently seized after a search warrant was executed on the Samson First Nation reserve.

Hobbema RCMP and Wetaskiwin GIS and the CRU team executed a warrant on May 6 at 2 p.m. on the Samson First Nation residence. They seized four firearms including an SKS assault rifle, which was loaded with a large magazine with 20 rounds of ammunition. A 40 cal. semi automatic handgun, 243 hunting rifle and ammunition were seized. They also recovered five ‘eight balls’ of crack cocaine (10.3 grams. The handgun was reported stolen in Edmonton and the SKS was reported stolen from Richmond, B.C.

No arrests have been made and charges are pending. The matter is still being investigated.

The Hobbema RCMP are pleased with the response from the community, as they have received numerous tips on criminal, drug and gang activity.
