Wildfire near Devon

Residents in Leduc County were alerted to a wildfire near the community of Devon a little after 3 p.m. on May 13.

An evacuation alert was issued for the area near Township Road 504 north to the North Saskatchewan River between Range Roads 270 and 265.

According to the emergency alert, a wildfire is burning in the vicinity of Township Road 504 and Range Road 270, approximately three kilometres west of Devon and south of the river. Current wind conditions are pushing the fire toward the river.

Everyone in the evacuation area is asked to collect important documents, pets, and enough food and water for three days and then proceed to a safe location.

Once safe, contact Leduc County at 780-965-4546 to register.

Emergency Services personnel will share an update when more information is available.
