Fatal crash

One driver was killed and another person was seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision on Hwy 2 south of Ponoka near Wolf Creek Golf Course. The collision occurred on June 29 at 12:10 p.m. with Ponoka RCMP, Ponoka Fire Department and Lacombe Ambulance responding to the scene.

The 72nd annual Ponoka Stampede kicked off on June 25 with 3,753 people watching the professional rodeo action. It was a beautiful evening with only a few showers for the first night of the largest professional rodeo in Canada.

The beautiful Battle River is being polluted. Sometime between June 18 at 3 p.m. and June 19 at 9 a.m. nine 20-litre pails of cooking grease and oil were discovered on the bank of the river just south of the green bridge on 50 Ave according to town officials.
