SAAN stores across Canada are having a going-out-of-business sale, which is being conducted by Great American LLC Group and Hudson Capital Partners LLC. This includes the SAAN store in Ponoka located on 51st St.

Assault in Ponoka

The Ponoka RCMP are investigating a sexual assault/home invasion that occurred on May 25 at approximately 11:30 p.m. in Ponoka. An unknown male suspect gained entry to the victim’s residence via an unlocked side door. The female victim suffered minor injuries as a result of the attack. Cpl. Geoff Buxcey of the Ponoka RCMP assures residents that the town is still safe. He says that police are not releasing the location of the incident for the protection of the victim.

PCHS closed due to threats and fight forces lockdown

Ponoka Composite High School had two situations involving the RCMP last week. On June 6 the school received generic threats against the school. RCMP reported that the threats arose from the fight that occurred at the school on June 4. At the time a joint decision was made between the Wolf Creek Public School Board and the Ponoka Detachment of the RCMP to close the school and send the students home.

Charges laid after accident

Hobbema RCMP arrested Jody Lee Francis Soosay, 28 years old, on May 15 and charged him with 12 criminal code charges. Soosay has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in Wetaskiwin Provincial Court on May 27.
