October 15, 1936 - February 28, 2019
It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Alfred Raugust on February 28, 2019 at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton at the age of 82 years surrounded by his loving family.
Alfred was born on October 15, 1936 in Ebenfeld, Bessarabia, Romania. He immigrated to Canada in 1952 with his family and settled in Ponoka in 1954.
Alfred will be lovingly remembered by his wife Lillian (Henkelman) of 59 years; his daughters Donna (Dwayne) Rausch and Irene (Neil) Goltz; grandchildren Charlene (Jon) Daley, Tyler Goltz, Jason Rausch, and Mallory Rausch; his sister Maria Hetze; brother Adolf (Myra) Raugust; as well as many nephews and nieces.
Alfred was predeceased by his parents Johannes and Dorothea Raugust; brother Hubert; sister Erna; sisters-in-law Elsie Raugust and Laura Pears; and brothers-in-law Manfred Hetze and Alvin Freiman.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5501 - 54 Avenue, Ponoka with the interment to follow in the Ponoka Forest Home Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the church.
Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to S.T.A.R.S., Ponoka Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, or any charity of your choice.
The family wishes to thank all the medical staff, the staff at Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre, Guardian Ambulance, S.T.A.R.S., staff at Intensive Care Unit 3C, and University of Alberta Hospital for the kind and compassionate care in Alfred's final days.
