Alice MacTavish


Alice Louise (Kibblewhite) MacTavish was born on April 29, 1923 and was raised in Balzac. Marrying Stanley MacTavish in 1949 they resided in the Homeglen district. Alice is survived by her sister Shirley Sutton; daughters Lavina Currie, Beryl Matheson, Patricia (Reg) Menzies, and Yvonne (Stan) Wickberg; grandchildren Clayton (Jessica) Nelson, Kari (Cam) Mertz, Tyler (Beatrice) Untinen, Erica (Trevor) Block, Matt (Heidi) Untinen, Brenda (Ken) Meijer, Nicole Wickberg, April (Jamie) McDonald, Sarah (TJ) Adcock, Tina (James) Dykstra, and Karin (Adam) Richardson; along with 21 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Stanley in 1996, 9 brothers and sisters, son-in-law Roy Matheson, and grandson Travis Untinen. Alice lived her life on a farm where she could enjoy a good cup of coffee while looking out her living room window across the valley. She loved knitting, sewing and playing games with anyone who was willing to compete with her. A Graveside Service was held at the Dakota Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 13th with a Celebration of Life following at 2:00 p.m. at the Homeglen Hall. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Alice's honour to the Alzheimer Society or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta.
