Anabel May


Anabel May of Ponoka passed away peacefully on November 23, 2011 at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre. Anabel was born June 21, 1918 at Harte, Manitoba to Bertha (nee Mack) and John May. Anabel took her schooling at Birch Lake School in the Lacombe District and her high school at Ponoka where she took the "Commercial Course". Anabel worked at Field Motors and Alberta Hospital Ponoka before beginning her life long occupation at the Municipal District of Ponoka (County of Ponoka No. 3) where she was employed from 1945 to 1980. Anabel was a member and faithfully supported the Ponoka United Church and many charities including the CNIB. She was interested in world and current events, enjoyed travelling and loved to read until she was diagnosed as being legally blind in July 1998. Anabel was predeceased by her brother Wilfred in 1926 and her parents in 1967 and 1968. She leaves to mourn her passing several cousins and the family of life-long friends Pat (MacDonald) and Griff Jones. A Graveside Service will take place at the Forest Home Cemetery at a later date.
