Anna Hansen 1920 - 2008

Anna was born in Aalborg, Denmark on September 27, 1920 and passed away in Ponoka, Alberta on August 17, 2008 at the age of 87 years. Anna married Carl Hansen in 1940 in Copenhagen, Denmark and lived there until they immigrated to Canada with their three children in 1957. They lived in Hanna, Alberta for five years and then moved to Ponoka in 1963. Their fourth child, Dan was born in 1965. Anna worked at Northcott for a time and did custom sewing from her home for many years. She enjoyed gardening, travelling, (especially to Reno), cards, and entertaining her friends. She was also an avid reader. She is lovingly remembered by her son John (Janet) of Crofton, B.C., daughter Anni Kellington (Dave Algar) of Coquitlam, B.C., daughter Vivian Griffiths (Ken) of Ponoka, son Dan of Ponoka; grandchildren: Jo Krause (Lyle) of Ponoka, Brian Dill, Jamie Hansen, Sandra Hansen-McLeod (Ken), Cyndi Sequin (Joe), Connie Brouilette, Stephen Griffiths (Elisha),; great-grandchildren: Alana, Shandon, Jaden, Jenica, Thomas, Matthew, Patrick, Nicole, Christopher, Brandon, Cameron, Carter, Braedan and niece Ella Laughlin of Ponoka; and numerous nieces, nephews in Denmark. . She was predeceased by her husband Carl in 1996; grandson Patrick Kellington in 1966, grandaughter Christine Dill (Kellington) in 2008; 7 brothers and 4 sisters. A Funeral Service was held at the Ponoka Funeral Home on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Interment followed in the Forest Home Cemetery. Memorial donation in memory of Anna may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
