January 31, 1932 - July 23, 2018
Anna Hougaard Perry was born in Canada on January 31, 1932 but the family moved home to Denmark after the first four children were born.

When they returned in 1946, she finished her schooling and acquired her hair dressing license. She worked at the Alberta Hospital Ponoka for many years doing hair and cut many heads of hair at the farm. Anna was a master at everything she did but never knew her own beauty and gifts.

Her house was always spotless and her door was always open to family, friends and neighbours - for meals or at least coffee and cake. Everything she touched looked beautiful, from flowers, gardens, quilts, afghans, to petit-point pictures and so much more. She had huge vegetable and flower gardens.

She was a phenomenal cook. Her meals and desserts were always so tasty. Everyone in the country had their wedding cakes made and decorated by her with all the intricacies of unique special icing flowers. Her talents were many.

Her last few years were a struggle as dementia crept into her life. During this time she never complained, was always calm and pleasant and always wanted her hair done to look her best. Her smile was radiant and would lighten up her face and our world. Our lives were so much richer for having her in our world.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 63 years, Herbert Perry; her daughters Marlene (Mike) Leroux, Linda Curr and Donna (Art) Paradis; her grandchildren Sandy (Kent), Marie, Shelley (Mark), Meagan, Curtis, Tenille, Natasha, Curtis (Megan), Dana (Danielle), Shelby (Chanelle) and their dad Shane Curr, Tammy (Dan), Daryl (Sherry), Ryan (Alex), Trevor (Eryn); twenty-four great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; her sisters Ellen McManus and Agnes (Clair) Lundstrom, and brother Ken (Lucille) Straarup; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Anna was predeceased by her parents Alfred and Mary Straarup and her brother Tommy Straarup.

A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, July 28 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ponoka Funeral Home with the Interment Service following at the Forest Home Cemetery. Donations in Anna's name are gratefully accepted to Lacombe Hospital and Care Center - Extended Care.
