With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Annie Melnychuk on August 22, 2022 at the age of 94 years. Annie was born in Holden, AB to George & Pauline Christian. She married and moved to Redwater, AB and later returned to Holden to work at the Holden Lodge. Annie volunteered for several organizations: Royal Purple, Seniors Hall, recycling, St Mary's Ukrainian Church, and catering for the Holden Hall, Holden Museum, and Holden Community assisting where she was needed.
Annie was the type of person that put others ahead of herself. She was hardworking in what needed to be done. She loved being on the country farms, gardening, canning, cooking and delivering meals and of course her famous baking. She enjoyed the milking of cows and selling fresh farm cream and eggs. Annie enjoyed being involved with everything around her. She loved helping raise her beautiful grandchildren. Sunday dinners with creamed chicken and the fresh cabbage rolls that all her company would enjoy. Annie loved to tell little jokes and giggle, crocheting, exercising was a must, and long walks with Lucky, our family dog. She enjoyed going for coffee with neighbours and friends at local restaurants, playing shuffleboard, crossword puzzles and reading, and loved good conversation with anyone. Annie touched many hearts in different ways.
Annie is survived by her sister Margret Mella of Stony Plain; her children David (Bev) Melnychuk of Redwater, AB, Gary Melnychuk of Whitecourt, AB, and Diane (Bill) Rose of Ponoka, AB; also Baba's grandchildren, Chloe, Brandie, Shane, Tammy, Stefanie (Tyler), Landen (Allison) & Kimberlynn (Adam); and 5 great grandchildren.
