McGILLIS, Armand Francis
Armand Francis McGillis was born on September 2, 1951
in Antler, SK. and passed away on June 4, 2010 in
Ponoka, AB.
Armand is survived by his family - Brenda of Ponoka, AB.,
Laurianne (Scott) Hewey and their son, Matthew of Carbon,
AB., Amanda McGillis (Brent Neumeier) and their
children; Klaeton, Zachary, Alexis and Sierra of Rimbey,
AB.; his mother, Gabrielle McGillis; brothers, Gaston and
George; sisters, Roselda (Gordon) Robson and Delia
McGillis, all of Winnipeg, MB.
He will also be remembered by Brenda’s family - Laura
Poulsen of Olds, AB., Paul (Marina) Poulsen of Alida, SK.,
Carolyn (Daniel) George of Allan, SK., Wanda Poulsen of
Gander, NF; and all their families.
Armand was predeceased by his father, Alexander; his
brother, Edward; his father-in-law, Henry Poulsen;
brothers-in-law, Ralph and Irwin Poulsen and niece,
Jennifer George.
Armand was a truck driver by profession but due to a work
related injury in 1989, he was unable to return to employment.
Armand went about busying himself with helping his
family and any others he could. He was a very involved
father to his 2 daughters and was very proud that he was
able to help care for his grandchildren as they arrived - he
was a loving and caring “Papa” to them all.
Memorial Services to celebrate Armand’s life were held in
Ponoka, AB. on June 9, 2010 and in Redvers, SK. on
June 22, 2010. His ashes have been interred with his
brother and father at the St. Maurice Cemetery in Bellegarde,
SK.
