January 31, 1936 - July 28, 2019
Benedict (Ben) Sieben was born January 31, 1936 at home in Grosswerder Saskatchewan, and passed away peacefully on July 28, 2019 at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Center, with his loving wife of 55 years, Marguerite, by his side. Ben will be lovingly remembered by his wife Marguerite; sons Mark (Cheryl) Sieben, Duane Sieben, and Craig (Diane) Sieben; grandchildren Erin (Steven) Prodanuk, Desiree (Bobby Gladstone) Hilbach, Cameron Sieben, Logan Sieben, Lauren Sieben, and Kelli-Rai Sieben; as well as 6 great-grandsons Easton, Nash, Brooks, Ayden, Robbie, and Davey. He is also survived by 12 of his 16 siblings, numerous friends and extended family, and the community of Ponoka that he has been a part of for over 60 years. Ben was predeceased by his parents Solomon and Marie; and his siblings Vicci, Kenneth, Gussie, and Rose. Through the years Ben worked a number of jobs in Ponoka as a farmer, sheet metal worker and with the Ponoka Feeders Association. In 1984, he purchased the Ponoka Truck Wash, and gave all 3 of his sons an opportunity to work there with him. In his free time he could be found at Wolf Creek Golf Resort, in the loader at the gravel pit, having coffee at A&W, or checking out the Wednesday auction at VJV. He was known around the community for his quick wit, smiling face, and multiple catchphrases.
