Beva Maxine Hamilton

Beva Maxine Hamilton (nee Farnham) was born on January 24, 1954 in Calgary, Alberta and entered into the presence of her Lord on Friday, October 7, 2011 in Ponoka, Alberta at the age of 57 years. Beva passed away on the 3rd anniversary of her first date with Jim Hamilton who she married on August 9, 2009. Beva received her Registered Nurse designation from the Holy Cross in Calgary. She began her nursing career at the Calgary General Hospital; four years later she moved to Southern Oklahoma to marry Jerry Beagley and began nursing in North Texas. She was named as one of the top one hundred nurses in the state of Texas. As nurse at Texoma Medical Center she was the Director of Women’s and Children’s Services, where she served that hospital and the people of that community for thirty-five years. Beva also served the Texas and Oklahoma communities as a director of many youth rodeo associations and was a band mom for The Pride of Durant marching band. Beva served her Lord with the Colbert Methodist Church in Colbert, Oklahoma. Upon her marriage to Jim she retired from Texoma Medical Center and moved to Ponoka, Alberta to be with her husband and close to her mother. Beva and Jim worked together in Hamilton’s IGA and was a nurse in the recovery unit at the Red Deer Hospital as well as the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre. She also served the citizens of Ponoka this past term as Town Councillor. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband Jim and her son Brian Beagley both of Ponoka, her daughter Martha Darwin and grandson William Hayden Darwin, both of Sherman, Texas; her step-children Tom Hamilton and his girlfriend Amanda Bowick of Ponoka and Amy Hamilton of Calgary; her sister Loree Graf and her husband Terry of Ponoka; nieces and nephews Dalom Blair and his wife Danielle of Rimbey, Daren Blair and his wife Yareli of Calgary, Kayley Blair of Ponoka, and Kelty Blair and his fiancé Stella of Rocky Mountain House. She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Barb Farnham and her brother Jay. Those wishing to pay their respects to Beva may do so at a visitation on Thursday, October 13 at 7:00 p.m. at the Ponoka Funeral Home (5115-50th Avenue). A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Anglican Church (5120-49th Avenue, Ponoka) with the Interment Service following at Forest Home Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at the Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas on October 19th at 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations are gratefully accepted for the maintenance of the Sommer’s Garden at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre, which have her enjoyment to look at.
