We are saddened to announce the passing of Bonnie Jean Mech, daughter of Russell and Lolita Aubrey of Ponoka, Alberta. Bonnie died peacefully after a long battle with cancer and heart complications on Sunday, June 14, 2020 at the age of 73 years. Bonnie leaves behind her beloved husband of 44 years, Alfons (Ed) Mech of the George Boyack Nursing Home; her brother Doug Aubrey and partner Jane Ladd of Westbank, BC; and best friends Flora Aubrey and Andrew Carson of Calgary, Alberta. She was predeceased by her parents Russell and Lolita Aubrey. Bonnie led a remarkable life and impacted the lives of many people. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology at the University of Calgary in May of 1967. She was articulate, well read and had a thirst for knowledge. Bonnie's career included 13 years at the Calgary City Library and 30 years at Pan Canadian Energy (later EnCana) as a Supervisor and Records Administration. We wish to thank the medical staff at the Foothills Medical Centre on Unit 81, Cardiology; as well as Transition Services, Palliative Care and ETS paramedics. We are most grateful to Rosedale Hospice for their excellent care and the advocacy of Dr. Tara Pickering and Dr. Kim Finvers as well as the exemplary work of Spiritual Care Coordinator Kristy Gauld Dyer. A private Graveside Service was held at Queens Park Cemetery. Bonnie will be deeply missed by all her friends and family.
