In loving memory of
Bruno Ruck, 94, of Ponoka, Alberta, passed away on December 26th, 2022, at the Ponoka General Hospital.
Bruno was born on June 24th, 1928, to August and Bertha Ruck in Sarata, Romania (Bessarabia). He spent his first 12 years living on their small farm in Sarata, until his family was forced to flee their home in 1940 as a result of WWII. The following years were mostly spent living in camps across Poland and Czechoslovakia through the war, arriving in Germany in 1944.
In 1948 Bruno left Germany with his mother Bertha and sister Hedwig to make the long trip to Canada. He arrived in Ponoka, where he would spend the remainder of his life. He worked various laborer and construction jobs during his first years in Canada, before taking a job at the County of Ponoka - School Division in 1961. He would spend the next 28 years with the County before retiring in 1988 as Ponoka County School Maintenance Supervisor. After his retirement, Bruno started a small tree farm on his acreage, which he operated for 25+ years.
Bruno was predeceased by his parents August and Bertha Ruck, his wife Mina Tweedy Ruck, and good friend Debbie Palmer. He is survived by his sister Hedwig Ruck of Lacombe, his daughter Lana (Ken) Cooper of Calgary, his son Michael (Lili) Ruck of Ponoka, and grandchildren Jessica (Scott) Cooper, Lindsay Cooper, Stephanie Ruck, and Otto Ruck.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Ponoka Funeral Home on Saturday, December 31st, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. with the Interment Service following at Forest Home Cemetery in Ponoka.
