Caroline Fillinger was born June 4, 1913 in Ryley, Alberta and passed away January 1, 2009 at the Northcott Care Centre at the age of 95 years. She is survived by seven children: Charlie (Millie), Kathleen Throop (Dennis), Virginia Johnston, Joseph (Geraldine), Marjorie Gramlich (Richard), Martha Newton (Gerald) and Violet Lewis (Ted); 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Ethel Metro; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband Frank Fillinger; son-in-law Harvey Johnston; brother Joe Kudrowich; and sisters Pauline Hrabec and Annie Kudrowich. Caroline was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She loved the Lord and was very faithful to her church. For the past 22 years, her home was at the Northcott Care Centre and we are grateful for the care that she received and wish to thank all the staff and Dr. Surgenor for their service. Caroline was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her. A Prayer Vigil was held at the Ponoka Funeral Home on Monday, January 5 at 7:30 p.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 6 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church. The Interment Service followed at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta.
