It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cecil Woods on Feb 14, 2022. He passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Hospice with his wife and 2 boys by his side. He was 74 years old.
Cecil was born in Saskatoon, SK on Jan 2, 1948. He lived on his family's farm in Plato, SK and went to school in Eston, SK where he graduated. Cecil's family then moved to Calgary where he attended SAIT for 2 years and he received his business diploma. He then worked in management for Woolworths and Walmarts in Calgary, Penticton and other locations in BC. He later got a calling to try some farming with his brother Rick in Valleyview for a couple of years before settling into a construction career. He worked in gravel crushing until his retirement. He then turned to his passions of full-time golfing, gardening, and camping. He also never missed a Flames or Blue Jays game. Cecil married his wife, Sandra in 1997, and they had 2 boys, Justin and Curtis.
Cecil was predeceased by his father, John "Jack" and his mother, Alice. He is survived by wife, Sandra; sons, Justin and Curtis; 3 younger brothers, Don (Dee), Rick (Josee) and Merle (Laurie); as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and dear friends. He was a very devoted father, husband, and friend. He will be greatly missed by his family and all his friends.
A Funeral Service will be held for Cecil at Wilsons Funeral Chapel, 6120 Hwy 2A, Lacombe on Saturday, Feb 26, 2022, at 11:00 a.m.
The family would like to thank the Red Deer Hospice for their very compassionate care during Cecil's stay. Also, a big thank-you to the Red Deer Hospital staff.
