It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Chris Orom, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister passed away surrounded
by family on August 22, 2017. Born in rural Saskatchewan, and raised in the city of Edmonton, Chris was happiest on the Orom family farm where
over the past 40 years she grew and nurtured her family, friends, and community. Chris devoted her life to caring for her family, both farming and city. The contrast of her two worlds brought her great pleasure and many laughs. Chris was a great community supporter who volunteered endless hours for numerous different organizations. Chris fought a hard battle over the past five months and we do not wish the disease of cancer to define her, other than as a testament to her strong will, determination and love of her family. Chris is deeply mourned by her husband, Doug Orom; children Matthew Orom and Jennifer Diegel (Tannor); granddaughter 'the Harper'; mother Vernis Haidner; brother-in-law Wayne Orom; sisters Colleen
(Tim) Degenhardt and Pat (Ted Ries) Gilbert; brothers Lanky Johnson and Brad (Lauren) Haidner; as well a very large extended family. Chris was predeceased by her father Fred Haidner, Charlie Johnson, and her in-laws Louis and Liz Orom. A Memorial Service for Chris was held on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Stagecoach (Ponoka Stampede Grounds). Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to any charity of your choice.
