October 8, 1938 - January 15, 2023
In loving memory ~
Constance Rosena Kjenner went to be with the Lord on January 15, 2023, with family by her side.
Connie was born October 8, 1938, the third of five daughters to Don and Clara Eastwood. She grew up in the Bobtail district next
to the Battle River. She attended Bobtail School until grade nine then went to Ponoka for high school. After graduation, she worked at the CIBC bank in Ponoka. Connie met the love of her life and married Kenneth David Kjenner on October 30, 1959.
Connie loved being a farmwife. She spent her life milking cows, baling hay, growing, and preserving a huge garden, doing farm books, and working by her husband's side. Connie and Ken raised their family on the farm in the Asker district. They were very busy in the community: coaching softball, helping with 4-H, volunteering with the church, or spending time at the Calumet curling rink. Connie was a proud member of the Asker Ladies Aid for over 50 years. Connie's life was defined by hard work and selfless service.
Many of Ken and Connie's cherished memories were made on their many travels. Ken fondly remembers Connie always relying on him to take the lead as she never seemed to know which way was what, or where they were going. They made memories in Norway, England, Scotland, Tofino, Mexico, Hawaii, and Disneyland. Their kid's upbringing was filled with weekends away in the summer camping and doing day excursions fishing.
Connie will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 63 years, Ken; her son Keith (Karen) Kjenner and granddaughters Tiffany (Matt) Kjenner, Kiara (Shane) Moshansky and great-granddaughter Kennedy Rose, Shania (Mark) Goelema and great-grandsons Hudson, Deacon, and Tucker, Tawni (Pierce) Clemmer, and Tasha Kjenner; her daughter Arlene (Darryle) Simmers and grandchildren Derek, Kat, and Janelle; and her daughter Sharon (Bob) Haines and granddaughters Rachael (Bart) VanHaaren, Allie Bolton, and Megan Bolton.
Connie was predeceased by her four sisters: Evelyn Pederson, Vera Brzus, Ethel Hollihan, and Hazel Rust.
The family gathered for a private graveside service on January 21 at Asker Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Ponoka Funeral Home on Friday, February 3, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. (the service will be live-stream broadcast & recorded) with a luncheon to follow at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Ponoka.
Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories.
