Connie Mae Stretch (Peterson) passed away peacefully with family at her side in the Ponoka Hospital on April 13, 2023, at the age of 85 years.
Connie was born in Ponoka on January 20, 1938, to Ernest and Laura Peterson. Connie grew up on a farm east of Ponoka near Nelson Lake. In 1957 she married Arnold Stretch. Connie farmed with Arnold in the Eastside District where they resided until they sold the farm and moved to Ponoka. Later in Connie's life and still on the farm, she became a Registered Nurse where she worked at the Red Deer Regional Hospital until her retirement. Connie and Arnold spent many winters at their Yuma Arizona home with many of their Ponoka friends. Connie enjoyed golfing in Yuma and being a member at the Ponoka Golf course.
Connie was a kind-hearted, compassionate person who will be deeply missed by her brother Barry Peterson (Marlen) of Red Deer; her three sons Mike (Wanda) of Ponoka, Keith (Leona) of Rocky Mountain House, and Duane (Margo) of Cochrane, along with 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Connie was predeceased by her husband Arnold; her brothers Garry Peterson and Ron Peterson; and her parents Ernest and Laura Peterson.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, April 24, 2023, at the Ponoka Funeral Home with lunch following at the Ponoka Legion. Connie will be laid to rest beside Arnold in the Ponoka Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations can be made directly to S.T.A.R.S.
