Donald Alexander McLaren


On March 25, 2012 Mr. Donald McLaren of Ponoka passed away at the age of 83 years. He is survived by his children Wendy (Wayne) Paulsen, Kerry (Douglas) Shaw, Lois (Don) Sachs, Lorna McLaren, Heather (David) Longe and Lyndon McLaren; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Don was predeceased by his wife Peggy McLaren and all of his brothers and sisters. Don farmed out east for 50 plus years. He loved the land, the birds, and his family who were utmost important in his life. Don was devoted to Peggy, his wife, who was stricken with M.S.. He arranged his life to be her care giver, eventually earning the Care Giver Award for Alberta. His dedication to Peggy was an example of love in motion. Don loved to fix vehicles and was known for interesting techniques in operating them. He was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone that asked or that was in need. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A Memorial Service was held at the Ponoka First Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 30, 2012 following the Interment Service at Forest Home Cemetery.
