November 4, 1928 - January 7, 2019
Reverend Donald Emery Miller will be lovingly remembered by his children; Susan Miller, Timothy Miller, Christine Kloosterman (Bryan), and Gerald Miller (Carla); his siblings Lois Miller, Lenore Frey (Roger), Ernest Miller, sister-in-law Judy Miller; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends. Don is predeceased by his parents, Jesse and Mary Miller, wife Gladys, brother Randy Miller, son Don, and granddaughter Brittney.

Don was born in Lake Ariel Pennsylvania on Nov. 4, 1928 but most of his memories are from growing up a few miles away on the farm in South Canaan. His Dad was a dairy farmer, but from a young age Don preferred chickens, which again played an important part of his life during his retirement. Don met Gladys at Bible School in New York and they were married June 1, 1951. He finished his seminary degree and joined the US Navy where he served for 3 years as a Chaplain. A childhood dream brought him north to Canada in 1957 where he pastored in Port Alberni, Dawson Creek, and Ponoka. Don completed his career as Chaplain at Centennial Centre in Ponoka. Upon retirement, Don enjoyed acreage life and his hobbies of raising chickens and collecting coins. Their visits to the Rocky Mountains, Alaskan cruises, and visits to Pennsylvania were highlights of time spent together with Gladys. Special thanks to the management and staff at Northcott, Seasons (Sunrise), Ponoka Hospital and Care Center, and Dr. Halse for the love and care he received over these past years.

A Funeral Service will be held at the First Baptist Church Ponoka on Wednesday, January 16 at 2:00 p.m. Refreshments will follow in the fellowship hall. The Interment service will be at Mount Lehmann Cemetery in Abbotsford, British Columbia.
