On July 8, 2020 Dorothy J. Hagemann of Ponoka passed away at the age of 78 years, 3 days shy of her 79th birthday.
Dorothy was born on July 11, 1941 in Wetaskiwin, Alberta to her parents, Inga and Arthur Nicholson. She met her husband of 56 years, Wayne, in 1962 in Ponoka, Alberta. Dorothy and Wayne lived west of Ponoka where they nurtured their children and the family farm.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Wayne; her daughter, Lori of Okotoks; her son, Rob (Shelagh) of Ponoka; her brother, Lorne (Carol) Nicholson of Alix, AB; sister-in-law Audrey Williamson, sister-in-law Irene (Bill) Thomas; nieces and nephews; her grandchildren, Jayden and Rylan of Ponoka, as well as many other relatives and friends. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents Inga and Art Nicholson, her mother-in-law Jane Lafreniere (Hagemann) and her husband Roland Lafreniere, her father-in-law Louis Hagemann, and her brother-in-law Alex Williamson.
During the last three years, Dorothy valiantly battled Alzheimers and was placed in the care of the Northcott Care Centre in Ponoka. The family would like to gratefully thank Pastor Tim Graff of the Trinity Lutheran Church for his pastoral care which provided strength and prayer for our family; Dr. Cayla Gilbert; the staff of the Northcott Care Centre and Ponoka General Hospital, for all of their guidance and compassionate care.
A private family service was held at the Ponoka Funeral Home, and a celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at a later date when public gathering restrictions have been lifted.
