It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother Dorothy Marie Jensen on July 29, 2017 at the Ponoka General Hospital and Care Centre.

Dorothy was born October 31,1921 in Rimbey, Alberta and was raised in the Springdale District. She was the eldest daughter of Gustav and Mabel Bengtson and received her schooling in that community.

On April 10, 1940 Dorothy married Rodney Jensen in Ponoka, Alberta and they began their life together farming in the Homeglen District. There they mixed farmed and raised their five children along with Operating Homeglen General Store and Gas Station. For many years they contracted the CADP Creamery routes to Bluffton and Ponoka.

On Semi-retirement to Ponoka in 1975 Dorothy established and operated Dot's Crafts .

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Rodney Jensen, parents Gustav and Mabel Bengtson, sisters Myrtle Fessler and June Shawlinski and great-grandson Dustin Phillips.

Left to celebrate her memorable 95 years of life are her children Millie (Ed) Chibri, Joyce (Ralph) Dopko, Judi Jensen, Linda Jensen (Tim), Vernon Jensen (Judy), 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Her sister Ruth (Bill) Ratcliffe, sisters-in-law Hazel Dawson and Marion (Gus) Olsten, brothers-in-law Hank Fessler and Tony Shawlinski, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service at Dorothy's request.

The family wish to thank Dr Grayling and the staff at PGH and CC for the kind and compassionate care in her final days. Our heartfelt thanks also to Rimoka Foundation Staff and Residents where she made her home these past few years.
