June 14, 1945 - January 5, 2022
Douglas Ivan Hosler was born on June 14, 1945 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and passed away on January 5, 2022 at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre at the age of 76 years. He is survived by his wife Kathy (nee Evans) and their sons Tyler and Wyatt; his sister Karen Hummel; his sons Shawn and Brian (Christie) and their mother Sandra (nee Kempf); his grandchildren Kash and Kassidy; as well as his father-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Douglas grew up in the Stettler area, graduating from the Stetter High School. He loved all sports and played baseball, football, and hockey, winning many awards. He enjoyed pheasant and goose hunting and fishing with his friends and family. He also liked to go to watch rodeos; he was even the president of the FCA Rodeo Association in the late 90's. Doug liked to get outside in the winter and hook up a team of horses and go to the cutter parades. With work and rodeo, he traveled alot making new friends along the way. Douglas worked hard and had many careers - some of them being gas station attendant, tire shop employee, drilling rigs, working in camps, driving gravel and fertilizer trucks, and being an oil and gas chemical salesman. He was a rodeo judge and a chute boss. He coached hockey and baseball teams as well. Douglas was an associate member of the Legion for 43 years. He always tried to volunteer in the communities he lived in. Douglas was very proud of his boys. He would always tell anyone who would listen about his older boys and their hockey achievements and how he was so proud of the younger boys and their marks and dedication to school. Due to the current restrictions, no formal funeral service will be held. Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to Diabetes Canada, the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Kidney Foundation, or any charity of your choice.
