July 6, 1942 - January 28, 2024

In loving memory ~

Douglas Wayne Roesti was born July 6, 1942 and passed away January 28, 2024 at the age of 81 years. He attended Rutherford School and Mecca Glen. Doug was a lifetime farmer and worked on the oil rigs as a roughneck and driller. Doug married Doreen Weins on June 6, 1970. Wayne Stephen Roesti was born March 7, 1974.

Doug is survived by his wife Doreen and his son Wayne. Also mourning his loss are his sister Shirley & Harvey Onesto, nieces Kimberly & Myles McClaflin and family and Patricia & John Wynnychuk and their family, and his nephew Michael & Diane Onesto and their family.

He was predeceased by his father Benjamin Roesti, mother Frances Roesti, sister Marilyn Blair, brother-in-law Bob Blair, and niece Kristi Onesto.

Doug was a quiet person with a wonderful personality and a good sense of humour. He farmed with his dad and spent a lot of time at the farm. Wayne spent many weekends with them.

Doug and Doreen took two big trips - one to Hawaii for three weeks and the other one was an Alaskan cruise with Shirley & Harvey Onesto. Doug, Doreen, Wayne, mother-in-law, and a niece or nephew made many trips to Radium, BC.

Doug suffered with renal failure in 2001 and spent three years in dialysis. On January 18, 2005 he was fortunate to get a kidney transplant and his life looked much brighter from that day forward and added many more years to spend with us. He was always the nurse's favourite patient as he joked with them and the room was filled with laughter. The last few years he suffered with Alzheimer's.

If desired, donations in Doug's name can be made to Northcott Care Centre in Ponoka.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Doug's life was held at the Ponoka Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 with the Interment Service following at Forest Home Cemetery.
