Bignold, Dugald (Dug) George


Dug was born on March 5, 1927 in Rocky Mountain House to Margaret and Herbert Bignold and passed away peacefully on September 12 at the age of 84 years with his loving family by his side. Dug enjoyed a full life on the farm and raised his family there.


He built the family farm in the Meadowbrook district and lived there until ill health forced him to move to town in 2009.


Dug is lovingly remembered by his family, 3 daughters and 3 sons Margaret Bignold and Ken Reed from Pincher Creek; Mary and Barry Rubottom from Sylvan Lake; Anna and Ken Alexander; Don and Hazel; Ron and Karrie; and Rob and Judy, all from Lacombe; son-in-law Bill and Brenda White from Ponoka. He is survived by 19 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; one brother in law Ken and Dolores Morrow; sister in-laws Denise Bignold, Blanche Morrow, Betty Morrow, and Florence Morrow; and many nieces and nephews. Dug was predeceased by his loving wife Ethel in 2001; daughter Doreen White in 2007; granddaughter Michelle Rubottom in 1985; son-in-law Steve Sqarek in 1999, his only brother Alex in 2011, several brother and sister in-laws.


Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Wilsons Funeral Chapel, 6120 Highway 2A Lacombe Alberta. A private family interment will follow in the Gull Lake Cemetery.
