February 2, 1942 - July 16, 2018
On July 16, 2018 Elaine Rhyason passed away very peacefully at home cuddled into the arms of her loving husband and best friend, Dale.

Elaine was born in Alder Flats, Alberta on February 2,1942. She went on to live in Ponoka and then to Edmonton where she got her B.Ed at the U of A. Her teaching career took her back to Alder Flats, Drayton Valley, Edmonton, and then many years at Muir Lake School by Stony Plain.

Elaine and Dale then moved to the foothills of the Rockies by Hinton where they could enjoy many of their passions. Camping, hiking, canoeing, snowshoeing, quilting, cooking, and of course volunteering kept her very busy.

Elaine will be very much missed by her husband of 54 years Dale, daughters Tracy Lebel (Claude) and Karen Rhyason (Laurel Harke), and especially her 4 grandsons Paul, Marc, Aiden, and Eric with whom she made countless memories and traditions which they will forever carry with them.

She is predeceased by her parents, Ronald Blades and Marie Bourke, brother Les Blades, and sister Joyce Hayduk.

She is survived by brothers Gord and Rod Blades and sister Lana Washington and families.

A huge thank you goes out to all of the amazing care she received from Dr Rahn (GP), Dr. Makus (Neurologist), Hinton O.T., Homecare, and Palliative care. No words can express the gratitude we have to all her friends and family who have supported us during the last few months, it will never be forgotten.

There will be no funeral as per Elaine's request, but we will have a Celebration of Life in the fall. Those who desire may make memorial donations in the memory of Elaine to the University of Alberta Brain Centre Campaign - BrainCentreCampaign.ca or in care of Foothills Memorial Chapel-Hinton Funeral Services who have been entrusted with the care and arrangements. 780-865-1234.
