June 14, 2019
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Elaine Saley on June 14, 2019. She had been battling severe COPD and ultimately succumbed to the disease. Elaine was born in Lethbridge in1940, grew up in Exshaw/ Canmore, took nursing at the University of Alberta and moved to Ponoka to train and work at the Alberta Hospital and then at the Ponoka General Hospital. She raised her family in Ponoka and enjoyed the benefits of living in a smaller community for 58 years. As requested by Elaine, no formal funeral service will be held. Instead, a celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date. Thank- you to those who have provided Elaine with great friendship, support, care and a lifetime of happy memories. Elaine's long career as a registered nurse in psychiatric and general nursing is something she dearly cherished. In lieu of flowers or donations, and in memory of Elaine's passion for the care of others, she requested that you take a moment in your day to help another person. It could be a helping hand, a kind word or an empathetic ear... Something that would make someone else's life just a bit better.
